The earlier an illness is detected, the higher the chances of a cure. However, symptoms do not always appear immediately. In addition to a health check-up, regular check-ups, for example for the early detection of cancer, are therefore a particularly important part of your health.
However, the statutory health insurance companies only cover certain check-ups.
In addition: In the case of voluntary health insurance benefits, additional conditions are usually attached. The examinations may only be used at specified time intervals and from a certain age.
Vaccinations are also an important component of good health care. However, the statutory health insurance companies do not always reimburse all important vaccinations, travel vaccinations or malaria prophylaxis.
In that case, you will have to pay for these vaccinations yourself.
The same applies to all hearing aid, glasses or contact lens wearers. If you don't pay attention once and your glasses are broken, for example. A private supplementary insurance for glasses not only covers the subsidy for the new hearing or visual aid, it also pays for repairs.
If the trip abroad is not to be overshadowed by an illness, travel vaccinations are mandatory.
However, statutory health insurance only covers vaccinations that are classified as medically necessary by the German vaccination guidelines.
This does not necessarily include all necessary travel vaccinations - as well as malaria prophylaxis.
Whether glasses or contact lenses - you are left with the costs as soon as you have to buy a visual aid.
With supplementary insurance you can protect yourself against:
80% of the costs (max. 400 euros in two years) for the acquisition.
If your glasses break, 80% of the repair costs will be paid.
By the way: The insurance applies regardless of whether your eyesight changes.
Children like to romp - not every pair of glasses can keep up. With supplementary insurance, you can protect your child's glasses better. Very simple: If the glasses break, you will be reimbursed 80% of the repair costs.
If you want to do without glasses or contact lenses in the long term, eye laser surgery can be the solution. However, the GKV does not subsidize these operations (so-called refractory surgery).
The supplementary insurance covers up to 1,500 euros for you – this also includes the costs for the preliminary and follow-up examinations of your eyes.
Hearing aids are expensive - they cost between 500 and 2,500 euros. As a rule, the acquisition costs are only partially reimbursed by the GKV, and only every six years.
The additional insurance covers 80% of the costs up to 800 euros in five years.
This also includes the repair costs, in which the GKV hardly contributes.
It doesn't matter where you buy your glasses.
It is important that the diopter number can be found on the invoice.
