An overview of the reimbursement
Orthodontics
Orthodontics exclusively for Zahn KDBP and KDBE - tariff up to
100%, max. €3000.00 up to the age of 18
100% after an adult accident
The best-known form of orthodontic treatment is braces for children and adults.
The health insurance companies usually only cover the costs for children and young people with pronounced tooth misalignments (KIG 3 - 5, so that in most cases these costs have to be borne for the most part by yourself. The dental KDBP tariff pays up to 100%, max. €3000.00 per insured event at the start of treatment up to the age of 18 and even in the event of an accident up to 100% for adults.

Caries treatment is the most common dental treatment and rarely does it not come without drilling, root canal treatment and filling.
Statutory health insurance covers the silvery amalgam fillings or standard root canal treatments, but the recommended plastic or precious metal fillings and surgical microscopy are not included in the scope of services provided by the GKV.
Dental prophylaxis
The DKV supplementary dental insurance covers up to:
€300.00 for prophylaxis
€300.00 for bleaching
Good prophylaxis is important to prevent dental disease in the first place. For example, dentists recommend professional teeth cleaning once a year, which is usually not covered by the statutory health insurance.
Dentists charge between €65.00 and €120.00 for professional teeth cleaning.
Professional bleaching (teeth whitening) brings your teeth back to their original, individual and natural whiteness. The GKV does not cover these costs of around €350.00. Up to €300.00 is reimbursed every 2 calendar years so that you can keep your bright smile.
Tip many statutory health insurance companies grant a subsidy for professional tooth cleaning, which is also reimbursed!
